Another example of an inconsistent director.
The Usual suspects is a masterpiece of course, but I watched his debut film, Public Access the other day and it was TERRIBLE.
How he got the funding for Suspects based on this film I'll never know. It showed none of the promise of his second film.
After that came Apt Pupil and of course, the X-Men films, none of which I rate very highly.
But avoid Public Access like a communicable disease.

Just goes to show that the right script can make all the difference. I haven't seen Public Access, but I thought that Apt Pupil was nowt to write home about.
On the other hand I did enjoy the X-Men films, in my opinion one of the better comic book franchises around at the moment. Still though, probably not the biggest stretch for a director.
